Today I’ll be sharing with you the top 5 best coffee shops in Taichung, especially for studying and working. It happens way too often that I sit down somewhere to study but find it almost impossible due to all the distractions around me. Therefore, I decided to do some exploring, and I was surprised to find so many excellent cafes in Taichung. Today I’ll be sharing all my secret spots so you, too, can find yourself a nice and cozy place to grind.
I’ll be rating every cafe in terms of their drinks, desserts, price, overall environment, whether it’s suitable for studying, and bathroom cleanliness (just because that’s something I really care about).
Without further ado, let’s get right into it!
1. Retro Mojo Coffee
Retro Mojo Coffee is located near the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts in the west district. In my opinion, It is one of the most work friendly cafes in Taichung. They have two floors and the second floor is strictly for work, so that means no talking is allowed. There are chargers available in the working area and no time-limit during the weekdays. The opening time is from 7am to 7pm everyday, so it’s ideal for an intense work or study session.
Additionally, if you are a sucker for aesthetic drinks like me, then Retro Mojo is definitely a coffee shop that you have to check out. The whipped cream on their drinks makes it look and taste even better than your average lattes

2. Coffee Talk
Coffee Talk is a small cafe in the north district of Taichung. Despite its unremarkable exterior, once you enter you’ll find the loveliest travel themed coffee shop. The owner of the cafe has spent a good amount of time traveling and collecting post cards from different countries, which are glued all over the wall. Here, you’ll also find three of the cutest and friendliest cats. You’ll adore them even if you’re not a fan of cats!
Another thing that makes this cafe absolutely worth going to is the free oat milk upgrade. If you’re not familiar with cafes in Taiwan, many charge an extra 20-30 ntd to switch milk for oat-milk. This can add up quickly, so free oat milk is fantastic for those of you who are lactose intolerant or just dislike the taste of milk.
There is no time-limit here and there are a few charging spots, a must-go for people who like to work in cafes.

3. Cdd Cafe
Cdd Cafe is situated in an alley near the Fengchia university district. Unlike the other coffee shops mentioned, Cdd Cafe is definitely more suitable for an afternoon hangout with friends or if you have some quick work to get done. The atmosphere here is quite dark so it can be a little hard to concentrate on work. However, their desserts are ab-so-lute-ly delicious! If you go, you HAVE to try their hojicha affogato. Affogatos are hard to come by in Taiwan, and this place offers four different mouth-watering flavors. Moreover, their tiramisu tastes so rich and creamy, I would honestly come back just for their desserts.

4. Lazy Cozy Cafe
Also near the Fengchia university district, Lazy Cozy Cafe is a newly opened coffee shop with a really elegant and relaxed ambience. My favorite thing about this cafe is that they’ve got an adorable store dog named A-dai and a majestic cat running around. On the shelves, they have many storybooks about cats, which you are more than welcome to pick up and read. The well lit environment makes it the perfect space to get some work done.
Lazy Cozy Cafe serves two house specialties: Canelé that comes in four different flavors, and duck egg cakes. I highly recommend you try both.
There is no time-limit here, however they do not have spaces for charging, so remember to charge your electronics before coming!

5. Brewsome Coffee
Brewsome Coffee is a one minute walk from the Nantun MRT station, which is super convenient. The decorations here are super aesthetic, so you could probably spend a whole afternoon here just instagramming away.
I recommend the honey lavender latte, it’s just the right amount of sweet and the lavender pieces sprinkled on top gives makes it taste extra fancy.
There is no time-limit here on the weekdays, and there are a few charging spots.
