Whenever someone asks me what my favorite cuisines are, I always answer Thai, Mexican, and Indian. And today I’ll be taking you to my favorite Thai food in Taichung.
Hey friends! Welcome back to another blog post. Today I am coming at you from the library of my school, and as of now there are only 67 days left until my national medic’s licensing exam.
I’m really supposed to be studying right now but I had a bit too much caffeine and I’m feeling very jittery but also lethargic at the same time because of PMS. These two feelings do not feel very well together, and I cannot concentrate at all right now. To the ladies reading this, do you also feel this way sometimes? Please let me know if it’s just me in the comments below!
Speaking of PMS, every cycle for me is like opening a box of chocolates- I’ll never know what’s awaiting me and it always takes me by surprise! This cycle I’ve been really craving foods that are really heavy and quite high in calories, also I’ve been really craving all things spicy.
Today I want to introduce one of my favorite diners that meet all my needs for comfort food-暹味泰式料理 (Siam Thai Food). This favorite Thai food in Taichung located in alley of Yizhong street, across from Chungyo Department store. This super affordable, student-friendly diner is always full of people during lunch and dinner time, and you cannot miss this place if you’re looking for Thai food in Taichung.
Pad Thai
Pad Thai is literally one of my favorite foods, oh my god. You could literally throw a plate of Pad Thai on me and I’d thank you. Honestly, I had a lot of trouble finding really good Pad Thai in Taiwan, but I think this restaurant serves really decent ones. Remember to add a bunch of lemon juice and hot sauce to make it 100x better!
Thai Green and Red Curry
Japanese curry? No, thank you. Thai curry is the way to go.
Okay, no hate on Japanese curry but to be honest I’ve never really understood why Taiwanese people loved it so much. It’s not bad, but ehhhhh. Yeah.
TELL ME: What are your thoughts on Japanese curry? Love it? Hate it? I’m personally not the biggest fan.
I’ve always loved Thai curry, not only do they taste absolutely amazing, I also love the bright colors! A pretty meal always makes eating more fun, am I right?
So how to choose between green and red curry? Well, I’m glad you asked!
Honestly, I can’t really taste a huge difference between these two but my friends say that the green curry here are a bit spicier than the red curry. This might be important to you if you can’t tolerate foods that are too spicy. But I’m a big spice eater so both taste fine to me. 😛
Phở
Ah, phở. Who doesn’t love phở? That’s right. No one.
Phở is undoubtedly the most popular Vietnamese food internationally, and for a good reason too. It’s literally bowl of warmth and comfort, and I’ve been very much needing it this PMS cycle. Here at the restaurant they serve phở in three flavors- regular, lemon, and hot and sour seafood phở.
I’ve been coming here for phở probably at least once a week for the past two months now. My favorite one is the hot and sour seafood phở, and make it extra hot! But if you’re not a big fan of spice but still want that extra lemony zing, then I definitely recommend the lemon phở.
You know what, I love phở so much I’ll probably make a separate post just for the best phở restaurants or more Thai food in Taichung. If you love phở as well, be sure to watch out for that!
Thai Basil Chili Seafood
Usually what you see the most often is Thai basil chili pork, but here you can customize with either pork, chicken, or seafood. I get the seafood one the most often because I’m not a big meat eater. But I’ve heard really good reviews on the other two as well.
If you’re craving a rice dish, then this is the one you should order. I don’t think I’ve ever tasted something so amazing before?? It’s super rich in flavors and it also gives off a fragrant wok taste, if you know what I mean. This dish is a must-order every time I go.
Et voila, these are all of my favorites from this restaurant. If you’re ever in Taichung then I highly highly recommend checking this place out. This is seriously the best Thai food in Taichung and it doesn’t get anymore authentic than this.
And friends, that is it for today. I love sharing food with you guys, and please let me know if there’s anything else you’d like to hear about! If you like my content, be sure to follow me on instagram @emixglobe for more fun and pizzazz.
