Welcome to my October favorites, friends!
I can’t believe it’s already October, I literally remember counting down for 2023 with a few bottles of soju like it was just yesterday.
October is an exciting month: we celebrated mid-autumn festival with some heavenly barbecue just a few days ago, we’ve got Taiwan’s national holiday coming up next week, my sister’s birthday is around the corner, and we can’t possibly forget Halloween! I felt the first breeze of Autumn wind this morning, which is super exciting for me because summer in Taiwan is scorching hot, and I can’t wait for cozy weather to actually settle in.
For this October I decided to start a fun favorites series- these were my absolute favorite to watch as a middle schooler. While these don’t seem to be much popular on Youtube anymore, I hope this series will serve as inspiration for people living all different types of lifestyles.
With that said, let’s get into some of my October Favorites!
Books
As we head into the cooler months, there is no better time to curl up on your couch and enjoy a good book paired with a warm cup of tea. Some of the books I have been enjoying this month are from various genres, and will hopefully give you some inspiration for your next read.
Atomic Habits by James Clear
This is definitely my top pick for my October favorites. I’ve read so many productivity books before but this is truly amongst the best of them. James Clear gives super understandable and easy to follow instructions on how to break bad habits and form good ones. It’s quite an easy read and I recommend it for anyone who’s into productivity books.
Tuesdays with Morrie by Mitch Albom
This book is without a doubt one of my all time favorites- it is a memoir dedicated to Albom’s sociology professor, Morrie Schwartz. You’ll go through roller coasters of emotions with this book and come out with a brand new perspective on life and what it means to live and die. It’s a must read for everyone from all walks of life!
Movies&Series
Although I think reading is an essential habit that everyone should have, sometimes we’re just not in the mood to read. Sometimes, we just want to lie in bed and binge watch brainless shows- I get that. If you’re out of ideas, these October favorites are some of the shows that I have been enjoying this month (you can find them all on Netflix!).
- Emily in Paris : I know, I’m so late! I’ve only started season 3 of Emily in Paris, and honestly, this show is truly great for those times when you really don’t want to use your brain. It’s funny, aesthetically pleasing, and just a great vibe!

- Marry My Dead Body : This is a Taiwanese movie that came out earlier this year, and it is perfect for the month of October. It’s giving spooky, but with such humor that you won’t even find it scary. I recommend it to all my non-Taiwanese friends- it’s a must watch!
- Gilmore Girls : Ah, this is a classic. I’ve been binge watching the Gilmore Girls on and off since last year. It somehow just reminds me of autumn?? Maybe because many scenes in this show take place during the fall and winter, definitely a cozy show to watch during the cooler seasons.

Beauty&Fashion
For my October favorites, I’ve been really into beauty items that come with cute packaging as well as autumn colors ranging from more neutral nudes to maple auburn.
Peripera Ink in Cinnamon Nude
I’ve been buying a lot of new lipsticks and lip glosses recently. Peripera ink lipsticks are definitely something that I’ve been wanting to try out because the baby bottle packaging is just too cute! I recently I got this color in cinnamon nude, and it’s definitely perfect for a more subtle autumn make up look.
Colorgram Juicy Blur Tint in Cherry Up Lychee
This is another new item that I got recently. As you can probably tell, I’m a lippie girl and I’m also a sucker for cute packaging (´。• ᵕ •。`) This is a brighter pink color, not necessarily giving the most autumn vibes, but suitable for your everyday makeup look.
Caramel Trousers
I’m usually more of a dresses girlie. But since I’ve started my cinical rotations at the hospital, I’ve been really on the hunt for trousers that are well fitting, comfortable, and fashionable.
As autumn rolls around, I feel like it’s really important for every girl to invest in a good quality pair of caramel trousers to match with the beautiful autumn leaves!
This one that I have picked out from Petite Studio is perfect if you’re on the shorter side. When looking for pants, it’s essential that you buy ones that fits you and your body shape well- it can make or break an outfit!
Travel Inspirations
As a travel blogger, I had to include this into my October favorites. There are some cities that I’ve been absolutely obsessed with and had to share with you guys so you could add it onto your bucket lists as well!
Harbin, China
I’ve been obsessed with the city of Harbin recently. Located in the northernmost province of Heilongjiang, Harbin is truly a winter wonderland. The architecture here is heavily influenced by the Russians, pictured here is the St. Sophia’s cathedral.
It goes down to -37 degrees Celsius here. If you’re not afraid of the cold then be sure to add Harbin to your winter travel bucket list!
Hong Kong
Hong Kong is another place that I’ve been really wanting to visit, probably because it’s so close to Taiwan and I have no time travel to anywhere further than Hong Kong right now.
I went there once back in high school. A lot of people I know don’t like the food in Hong Kong, but honestly, I think it’s bomb. If you’re looking for a more city like vibe, delicious foods, and warmer weather, then Hong Kong is the place for you!
Journal Prompts- Reflect and Reset
At last, as the autumn season falls upon us, what better time than to reset and reflect your life to get ready for a brand new year? In my opinion, autumn is truly one of best seasons to sit down somewhere cozy with a warm drink and just take some time to reflect on your year thus far, and how you can improve and adjust the remaining two months of the year to ensure that you have a smooth transition into the upcoming new year.
Below I’ve compiled some journal prompts that I’ve been finding really useful and insightful.
That is it for this month’s October Favorites friends, feel free to share your thoughts and feelings in the comments below, and I’ll see you in the next post 🧡
Until next time,
