One of my yearly (and quarterly!) must-dos is to create a vision board. I have been consistently creating vision boards since high school and the fact that *most* photos I put on there manifested in one way or another is actually incredible.
The reason that vision boards work is because it allows you to visualize your success every time you look at it. Your brain can’t actually tell the difference between reality and an imagined experience, so by constantly immersing yourself into your desired reality, your brain will actually start to create neural pathways that will support this reality.
To create a vision board that truly works involves a combination of intention, clarity, and consistent interaction with your vision. As the new year draws near, I’m going to show you how to successfully create a vision board in just 7 steps.

How to Create a Vision Board That Actually Works
1. Choose a Format for Your Vision Board
You have two options here: a physical vision board or a digital vision board. I personally prefer using a digital vision board because I find that I interact much more with it. With a digital board, you’re able to change your phone screen and laptop wallpaper, so you’re being constantly reminded of your goals every time you use these devices. Many people also prefer physical vision board. The best one is the one that you interact the most with.
- Physical Vision Board: Use a corkboard, poster board, or canvas. Collect magazines, printouts, photos, and decorations to create your board.
- Digital Vision Board: I religiously use Canva to make my digital vision boards, and I get most of my photo inspirations on Pinterest. A digital board can be easily saved as your phone or desktop wallpaper.
2. Get Super Clear and Serious on Your Goals
You can’t know what to put on your vision board until you have a very clear idea of what your dream life is and how you want to live your life. After you choose how you’re going to make your vision board, it is time to sit down and reflect on your dreams. One thing you can do is to write everything you want to achieve down in present tense and be super specific about your goals.
3. Organize Your Vision
Now that you have a super clear idea of what you want to be achieving, it is time to categorize your goals. Dedicate different sections of your board to different aspects of your life. Some examples of different categories may include: career/academics, self development, hobbies, social, travel, finances, relationships, etc. It is important to come up with categories catered to your own personal needs.
4. Let Your Intuition Take the Lead
When selecting your images, be sure to choose images and quotes that evoke strong, positive feelings. It is super important that your mind feels a big YES to each image you choose. Also let your intuition guide you to the right photos. I’ve had experiences where I wasn’t sure why I was drawn to a certain image, but I was very intuitively guided and put it on my vision board anyway.
Also create an intuitive flow to your vision board; group related goals together and arrange your board in a way that feels right to you.
5. Display and Interact with Your Vision Board Prominently
After you create a vision board, place it somewhere you’ll see daily. If you use a physical board, be sure to put it by your work desk or bedroom. The reason I prefer digital boards is because I find it so much easier to look at it daily.
Dedicate a certain time of your day to look at your board and visualize the emotions of success and how you would feel achieving the goals. I also love using my vision board as motivation when I’m feeling uninspired.
6. Take Consistent Action
Creating a vision board is not some sort of magic, your dreams are not going to come true just by creating your board. Break down your goals into actionable steps; your vision board is a guide to creating your dream life, and it will require consistent effort to bring your dreams to life.
7. 3Rs: Reflect and Refresh Regularly
Remember to review your board periodically and check your progress. Don’t be afraid to remove any goals that doesn’t feel aligned with your values anymore and allow your vision board to evolve as you grow.
With daily visualization, consistent action and reflections, your vision board will become a powerful tool to help you stay focused on your goals and manifest your dream life.
I would love to know if you have more unique tips to create a vision board and your experiences with it!
Until Next Time,
