This year, I went on my first ever solo trip (for student exchange) and lived in Seoul for a month. Today I’ll be taking you to 5 of my absolute favorite must visit places in Seoul that I think everyone, whether you’re a first-timer or an experienced traveler, should go to when they’re visiting.

Top 5 Must Visit Places in Seoul
Naksan- Seoul City Wall Trail
If you’re coming to Seoul for the first time and you’re someone who loves a good night view, then Seoul city wall trail is THE must-visit place in Seoul. I feel like this place isn’t as popular as it should be, but it is literally so so beautiful here.
Located conveniently between Dongdaemun and Hyehwa-dong, you can spend the day exploring these two neighborhoods and head over to Naksan around sunset. The stunning views as the sun sets over the city will leave you in awe.
Seongsu
If you’re looking to do some shopping, Seongsu is definitely one of the must visit places in Seoul.
I’m not gonna lie, I initially chose Seoul for my student exchange month because of the shopping. Yes, I wanted to go shopping. Honestly that sounds ridiculously silly when I say it now, but after spending a month in Seoul, I can say that I didn’t really enjoy most of the big shopping districts- except Seongsu.
Often called “the Brooklyn of Seoul”, Seongsu blends its industrial past with a modern, artsy vibe. Now it is one of the trendiest neighborhoods in the city. It is super easy to navigate; start your day slow at a cozy cafe and wander your way through all the unique and aesthetic shops here. It’s walkable, stylish, and effortlessly cool- a must-see for any Seoul itinerary!
Gyeongbokgong
I wasn’t planning on visiting Gyeongbokgong this time around because I had been there before already. But this time, I decided to rent a hanbok and get some photos there and my god, was it the best decision I made.
Gyeongbokgong hits different when you’re wearing a traditional Korean outfit and having fun taking photos with friends. The photo opportunities here are endless, you can literally spend an entire day taking photos here. AND, if you get to go inside the palace without having to buy a ticket if you come wearing a hanbok!
Han River
Where do I even begin to describe the beauty of Han River…If anyone ever asks me what my favorite place is in Seoul, it will always be the Han River. The beauty of this place is one that no photo could ever do justice. It’s beauty like this that makes me want to come back over and over again..Beauty that makes you stare in awe, unable to move.
It is one of the most romantic places I’ve been to and you’ll understand when you experience it for yourself. It is a place that you’ll want to take your loved ones to experience one day. I was even lucky enough to witness a full moon that day! It is places like the Han River that makes me feel so alive, and grateful to be so.
Anguk
Much like Seongsu, Anguk is a charming neighborhood located in the heart of Seoul. You’ll see an abundance of traditional hanok buildings in Anguk, and it is also within walking distance to many iconic sites like the Bukchon Hanok Village and Insadong.
Anguk is the perfect neighborhood for a chill and relaxed day, immersing yourself in Korean culture while exploring the quaint streets. It has a very friendly vibe to it and one thing I love about Anguk is all the cafes they have around here. Some of my favorite were- Knotted Cafe (for donuts) and Cafe Layered (the best cakes!!), and it is also where the famous London Bagel Museum is!
Seoul is truly a city that has something for everyone, whether you’re a history-junkie, a shopaholic, or you just enjoy being in nature or a good hike! Each of these five must visit places in Seoul offers a unique experience and are a perfect introduction to Seoul, hopefully you’ll enjoy exploring them as much as I did.
So pack your bags, grab your camera, and get ready to fall in love with the vibrant and multifaceted city of Seoul!
