It’s that time of the year again…for us to start searching for the best sunscreens this summer to avoid the painful sunburns and looking like you’ve just been sacrificed for a family barbecue.
Growing up in Asian culture, I’ve always been forced to slather sunscreen all over my body whenever we went out under the sun. I’ve always hated how oily it felt.
But as I’ve grown, I, too, have started to realize the importance of sunscreen in keeping our skin young and healthy. Most importantly, sunscreens are able to prevent the damaging effects of UV rays on our skin that may potentially cause diseases.
So as another summer approaches, I want to share some of the best sunscreens that I’ve been using throughout the years and love.
Without further ado, here are six of the best sunscreens this summer!
Allie
I discovered this Japanese sunscreen brand last year and I have been absolutely loving it.
One of the reasons I hated wearing sun screen growing up was because all the sun screens we had were so oily and made you feel all ickey and gooey. But the Allie sunscreen absorbs into your skin very nicely just like a daily moisturizer; it doesn’t leave a hint of oiliness at all.
This is my current go-to sunscreen and I’ve been using it for over a year. It’s great for even the most hot and humid weathers because the sunscreen won’t become sticky on your face and will remain fresh throughout the day.
The packaging of this product is sustainable, which is always a plus when purchasing cosmetic products. Overall, the Allie sunscreen is definitely one of the best sunscreens this summer.
Beauty of Joseon
The Beauty of Joseon is a Korean skincare brand and their sunscreen is also *chef’s kiss* I recently did a Beauty of Joseon Haul (hint hint: new post coming soon, stay tuned!) and ALL of their products delivers, including their sunscreen!
It’s crazy to think that I’ve been spending a shit ton of money on expensive skin care (that aren’t even effective sometimes!) when there are GEMS like this. Right now I only have good things to say about this brand and their sunscreen is a must have.
Only the best sunscreens this summer from the best brands for our beautiful faces!
P.S. I also love their simple, sleek packaging. You might hear me talk about packaging a lot, I know to never judge a product by its cover but I’M SORRY I’M A VAIN PERSON.
Hado Labo
The Hado Labo sunscreen definitely comes with the most value for price. It comes in a large container and just a can of this is probably enough to last you the whole summer. With such a large can, I’m even able to slather it all over my body without feeling like I’m wasting my ‘face sunscreen’. (the skincare girlies will know)
The downside to this sunscreen is that it’s not the most portable. You’ll probably need to buy a separate tube of sun screen for reapplication if you’ll be outdoors for a long time.
Cetaphil
The Cetaphil sunscreen is also one that I’ve been using for over a year now, along with the Allie sunscreen.
Cetaphil is an American brand, and like many Western brands, Cetaphil can be a bit oily. (I find many Western brands to be oilier, and I definitely prefer Asian brands in this aspect)
However, I still love this sunscreen from Cetaphil because I find it to be quite moisturizing, which is great for ultra dry skin like mine. This Cetaphil sunscreen also finishes with a really nice glow without any white castes. But I do tend to only use this only when the weather won’t be sizzling hot and humid that day, or my face will become a bit sticky and uncomfortable.
All in all, the Cetaphil sunscreen is perfect for those of you with dry skin and also one of the best sunscreens this summer if you live in milder weather (like Europe) that doesn’t feel like a literal oven turned on to 350 degrees when you go outside (aka, anywhere outside of Taiwan and I assume Southeast Asia as well).
Biore UV Aqua RIch
Biore is a classic favorite in Taiwan because of its very affordable prices. The Biore sunscreen comes in many varieties but my favorite one is definitely this one- the Biore UV Aqua Rich. It is waterproof and its formula is most simple one out of the entire collection; no extra fragrance or unnecessary additives, which is great for sensitive skin like mine. It’s very watery and absorbs well into the skin. The Biore Sunscreen is yet another one that’s perfect for summers with high humidity.
Skin1004 hyalu-cica water serum
So the skin1004 sunscreen has been the recent craze lately(where I live anyway), and like all the Korean sunscreen products I’ve mentioned in this post, it always delivers. It leaves you with a very soft and moisturizing finish that stays fresh all day.
I know looks don’t matter, but I LOVE the packaging of this product. It’s so tiny and cute! This is definitely one of the recent best sunscreens this summer, and I’m really looking forward to try more products from Skin1004 this year.
And Guys, that is the full list of the sunscreens that I’ve been loving using recently. I hope that through this list, you’ll be able to find your holy grail as well because sunscreen is such an important part in keeping our skins nice and healthy. No matter how much effort you put into your everyday skincare routine, it’ll all go to waste if you don’t properly protect yourself from the sun.
I hope you enjoyed today’s post and I’ll see you in the next one („• ᴗ •„)
Until next time,
